For owners of exotic, high-performance, and limited-production vehicles, insurance needs often extend beyond a basic policy. Important exposures can include high values, specialized repairs, limited parts, theft, modifications, storage, and valuation after a total loss, making it important to match the policy to the actual risk.

Coverage can be tailored to the individual situation. Peninsula Insurance Servicescan help clients in Michigan compare available options from multiple insurance companies and review differences in coverage, limits, deductibles, and eligibility.

Why Consider Exotic Auto Insurance?

Exotic cars can be difficult to insure correctly under an ordinary auto policy because repair costs, parts availability, market values, and usage patterns differ from mass-market vehicles. Some owners may benefit from specialty carriers familiar with high-value automobiles.

Insurance can help transfer some of these financial risks, but no policy covers every situation. The appropriate combination of coverage depends on the specific details of the risk and the insurance companies willing to consider it.

Exotic Auto Insurance Coverage Options

The coverage that may be appropriate varies by client. Depending on the situation, an insurance program may include several different policies or endorsements.

Agreed Value Coverage

Agreed value coverage may be available for certain specialty or collector vehicles. When properly written, it establishes an agreed insured value rather than relying solely on ordinary depreciated vehicle valuation after a covered total loss.

Collision and Comprehensive Coverage

Physical damage coverage may help with covered collision, theft, vandalism, weather, and other qualifying losses, subject to deductibles and policy terms.

Specialized Repair Considerations

Specialty policies may provide greater flexibility regarding repair facilities, original equipment parts, or valuation, depending on the insurer.

Limited Mileage and Storage

Some specialty programs require secure storage, limited annual mileage, or restrictions on daily commuting. Usage should be disclosed accurately.
